The building on the right of the photograph is the old guard room, now the showroom and office complex for Bexwell Kitchens Ltd, beyond the trees, in the background is the location of the airfield site.

Other Topics: This website is covering the memorial project to honour Pathfinder Squadrons 635 & 608. Both squadron were station at R.A.F. Downham Market during 1944 to 1945,strange but true R.A.F. Downham Market is still the only Pathfinder Station which has no gate stone memorial . A percentage of the each book sold will go towards buying a special memorial for the airfield entrance. The gate stone memorial to honour these two brilliant squadrons will be set outside the main gate entrance of the old airfield near the guard room.

Keep checking the website for more updates on the Pathfinder gate stone memorial project.

Interesting Fact: 635 Squadron flew on operations in various types of the Avro Lancasters. The squadron flew the Mk1's, Mk III's and Mk B.VI;'s of which all feature in the new book. 608 (North Riding) Squadron flew the  De Havilland Mosquito Mk XX's on operations to Germany as part of No.8 Groups 'Light Night Strike Force'.

A squadron history book about 608 (North Riding) Squadron is planned for publication in summer 2011 by Pathfinder Publishing.

Coming soon: In 2011, author Christopher Coverdale is publishing his next book which is a memorial tribute to No.8 Group Pathfinder Force. The book will feature for the first time every Pathfinder aircrew from all of the groups squadrons that flew with 8 Group Pathfinders and the Light Night Strike Force on operations from August 1942 to May 1945. The book will be published by Pathfinder Publishing and sold worldwide, checkout the website for updates and progress on all the topics mentioned above.

Thankyou.
